Resource Room / Special Education Teacher - 2 Full-Time Openings
Location: Saginaw, MI | K-12 School | Contract: 2025-2026 School Year (Approx. 01/05/2026 06/12/2026)
We seek dedicated Special Education Teachers to support students in self-contained classrooms within a K-12 setting. These full-time positions involve working approximately 35 hours per week, primarily onsite, with some consideration for virtual arrangements for Michigan residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction and support for up to 22 students in mostly self-contained classrooms.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students, including Early Learning (Pre-K and up) to grade 12.
- Utilize evidence-based strategies aligned with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA federal regulations to address diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with families and staff to support the academic and social-emotional growth of students in an urban environment.
- Adapt instructional materials and resources to meet varying levels of abilities and disabilities.
Qualifications And Desired Experience
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Learning Disabilities endorsement required.
- Preferred endorsements: Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or Early Childhood (MDE endorsement ZA).
- Experience working in urban schools and with diverse student populations is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of MARSE guidelines and federal IDEA regulations.
- Ability to discuss challenges faced by urban children and recommend appropriate family and student supports.
- Comfortable working onsite; virtual candidates must be Michigan residents due to fingerprinting requirements.
